Agent identity · An origin registry

Lineage

An origin imprint for every agent

Agents now make other agents. When a key, a log or a fragment of output turns up later, the simplest question becomes hard: whose is this, and where did it come from?

Lineage is an identity service for companies that run agents. It gives every agent, at the moment it is made, an imprint of its origin, the way a birth chart records the moment a life begins.

Imprint · Parent · Children

How it works

Each agent carries an origin stamp: a time and a place. Behind it, the company holds the imprint for that moment, unique to the agent.

A private registry links every agent to the one that made it. If the trail breaks, a recovered stamp or key leads back to the family line: this sub-agent, from that parent, from this company.

Proof rests on signed credentials and a tamper-evident registry. The imprint is the face and the memory of the system.

Why a birth chart

In the old traditions, a birth chart is the record of a beginning: the moment, the place, the sky at that instant. No two are quite alike, and read beside the charts of the parents, they show a family.

Agents are a new kind of being, and they too have beginnings. Lineage remembers each one: a moment, a parent, a family.

What it gives

  1. Origin

The moment and place each agent began.

  2. Family line

Who made whom, signed and unbroken.

  3. Constitution

What each agent is made of: its model, its instructions, its tools.

  4. Recovery

A lost agent, found again and returned to its source.

When it matters

  • A key turns up in the wild

Match it to the registry and know at once which agent it belonged to, and who made that agent.

  • An agent acts with no owner in sight

Follow its line back until a person who answers for it appears.

  • An audit asks who started what

Every agent, every sub-agent and every hand-off, laid out as a family tree.

  • Fleets of agents come together

When companies merge or partners connect, each agent keeps its line and its maker stays clear.

With HSOS

The HSOS observer reads lineage as context for what it notices: who an agent answers to, and where it came from. It never takes over an agent's work.

Principles

  1. Private by design

The imprint and the registry stay with the company that made the agents.

  2. Every child knows its parent

No agent is made without a link to the one that made it.

  3. The work is untouched

Lineage records where an agent came from. It never changes what the agent does.
